SOME
WOULD OR WOULD NOT WANT TO LIVE IN A LARGE CITY
Where
you live can have a huge impact on your ability to save and spend, as well as your
lifestyle. There are many reasons to choose a place to live. Cost,
weather, demographics, crime, recent growth, school performance, and proximity
to work may affect your choice on which neighborhood is best for you.
I love
places where there are good transportation systems, where you have better
chances getting jobs and where you can easily enjoy cultural lives. These are
all in big cities. So I would like to live in a big city.
So what’s
good if there are good transportation systems? It will be very comfortable
because you can go to any places really quickly, and you save money riding on buses
and subways etc. Especially, these are days oil prices are soaring high so it
will be very helpful for you to save money.
Secondly, when you live in a big city you
have better chances of getting jobs. Big cities are call “big cities”
because there are lots of thing in it. For example, there are lots of
restaurants, lots of hospitals, and lots of educational facilities that all
need workers. So there will be better chances of getting jobs.
Lastly,
if you live in a big city you can enjoy more diverse cultural lives. For
example, if you want to eat some Thai food you can go to a Thai
restaurant but if you live in a rural small city it is not easy to get them.
You can also watch musicals, concerts, or go to museums etc. However,
if you live in a rural small city it won’t be easy to enjoy all these things
because there are less populations in small city. So, musical teams and singers
will not likely have a concert where they can’t earn much money.
These are five reasons why I would prefer living in a big city than a small
city. There are better transportation systems, you have better chances for you
to get jobs, and if you live in a big city you can enjoy more diverse cultural
lives, such as musicals, concerts etc.
Certain advantages of
living in a large city City life and rural life are absolutely the different
sides of the coin, so choosing whether to live in a big city or a small town
requires serious consideration. Each city has its unique aspects and qualities
that distinguish itself from others. Each person has his or her own opinion
about where to live based on his or her life style. However, according to me,
living in a large city has certain advantages over living in a small town:
convenient public transportation, greater entertainment facility and higher
employment. To begin with, a metropolitan city has its obvious advantage when it comes to
the public transportation. It is wildly known that a big city has extremely
convenient transportation which can be best illustrated by the example of New York,
where the subway runs twenty-four hours for seven days a week and there are
tremendous cabs and buses everywhere. Not to mention that the transport system
is always fast, safe, clean and affordable.
For the poor, who can only
rely on the public transportation, such a convenient and efficient system makes
it much easier for them to seek work opportunities far from their living houses
and also gives them greater access to education, healthcare and recreation. In
addition to public transportation, what makes people pour into big city is its
wonderful entertainment facility. Many small towns often offer less social
amenities than expected due to its demographic and geographic factors. Whereas,
countless facilities of entertainment and cultural activities such as cinemas,
theatres, concerts, museums can be found in a large city like Shanghai with the
least effort and time. Such facilities not only offer people a place where they
can be relaxed after a week’s hard work, but also can nurture the soul and cultivate
the mind to some extent, which is particularly beneficial to children who are
willing to visit some historical museums during their spare time.
Finally, higher employment
is another reason why people prefer urban areas. On the one hand, there are a
lot of headquarters for large companies in major cities as well as large
factories, so the average employed person is a step higher on the ladder than
they will be in smaller cities. And it is likely that people will find
something that specifically matches their skills. For instance, a friend of
mine who majors in software engineering can easily find a related job in big
cities while he may find the different line of work if he is in rural areas. On
the other hand, statistics show that people in large cities are more
likely to have a Bachelor’s degree or better, which contributes to the high
employment and better payment. Taken all of the above reasons into
consideration, small towns cannot be compared with big cities in public
transportation, entertainment facilities and job opportunities. Although, small
towns are more tranquil and peaceful, if a person pursues a fast-pace and
colorful life, major cities are his or her best choice.
Living in an urban center can be
great if you enjoy the hustle and bustle and want to be close to the action and
new possibilities. Check out some financial, cultural and lifestyle benefits of
living in the city.
1. Public Transportation & Walk ability
Access can be considered the main
perk of living in an urban center. While cost of parking can be expensive in
the city, many urban dwellers ditch the cars and high gas, insurance and
maintenance prices for traveling by foot, bike or public transit. Most large
cities boast bus or train systems that run regularly and offer affordable rates
that allow residents the opportunity to be mobile. This can make traveling
from one location to another much more convenient and cost-effective.
2. Attractions & Entertainment
Whether
it is green space, museums, theater, music venues or other cultural attractions,
most cities have an array of options for spending your free time. Many
cities have cultural programs, free or affordable options and incentives to
enjoy the entertainment and attractions available. Among the skyscrapers,
stores, and office buildings, the entertainment and culture in cities can be a
big reason to settle there. Some cities are growing faster than others.
3. Restaurants & Shopping
Large urban areas offer other
experiences that may not be available in small towns as well. From ethnic food
stores and restaurants to boutiques and specialty department stores, living in
the city provides unique dining and shopping experiences.
4. Social Possibilities & Networking
With thousands and even millions of
people living in close proximity, cities have unlimited social potential for
friends and networking. While those with similar interests or backgrounds
separate into many neighborhoods, cities also experience great diversity in
common spaces. Urban life offers a chance to broaden your professional contacts
and personal relationships.
5. Medical Care & Service for Seniors
Living in a city allows the
opportunity to get care in a major medical institution and services and
assistance for seniors. Getting help in a large city can occur more quickly and
even more specialized in a city rather than suburbia or a rural area.
While
there are several benefits of living in an urban center, some challenges exist
as well. Cost of living, noise and lack of space cause many to live on the
outskirts and commute to work or even search for the rural life. Be prepared to make the most of small space and pay for increased access if you
are moving into the city. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons specific to
your situation before making the choice of where to live. For some the benefits
of living in the city will be enough of a lure but for others, a turn-off.
While many people feel that a big city is a good place to live, I
believe that the opposite is true. The following essay will demonstrate exactly
why the latter position is more persuasive than the former.
Firstly, big cities bring more pollution than small towns such as
smog, noise, and traffic. In the long run, the environment will be damaged and
people's health will suffer.
For example, noise is environmental pollution. Particularly in
congested urban area, the noise that is produced by our advancing technology
causes physical and psychological harm, and detracts from quality of life for
people who are exposed to it.
Secondly, Small towns are more personal and secure than big cities.
In small town, People are usually known about each other's personal lives such
as jobs, children's name, ages, and hobbies. Moreover, people normally know who
owns the local stores or restaurants. Then, they help each other to watch over
their houses. On the other hand, big cities are impersonal because of their
size. People cannot meet each other easily.
Last but not least, Small towns are friendlier than big cities, and
encourage a sense of community. People tend to be more relaxed in small towns
and have more time to meet people whereas in big cities, people are more
hurried. For instance, small towns are easier to get around in than big cities.
When people want to visit their friends, they often ride a bicycle to meet them
because of closeness.

Three days later they go to Jakarta
and when they arrived there they surprised and amazed to

Ira : Oh , don’t worry Friska ,
I bring something and it will help us to find out the location of that campus .
Friska : What’s that Ira ?
Ira : ( take the map )
Taaarraaa.... we can look the location from here , let’s find together .
Friska : Wooowww , I’m proud of you Ira.
You prepare yourself too much Ira , but I think we don’t need it in this time .
We can use google map to find out the location wherever we are.
Ira : Are you sure we can find
out the location from here ?
Friska : Yes I’m sure Ira . Because I
look in the Tv many people in the large city use this google map to find out
the location that they want to visit.
Ira : Wooww that is so
sophisticated.
Friska : Yes Ira , in this large city
many people were used the sophisticated tools .
Ira : Oh , I understamd now. It
means that we don’t need to use this map .
Ok I will save this to
my bag.
Friska : Yes Ira , in this large city many
people when they do something they just do it with the practice way because of
the sophisticated tools.
Ira : So, what public
transportation that we choose ?
Friska : I think we can go there by that
public transportation.
Ira : Ok let’s go Friska .
Friska and Ira
had arrived in the location . Near from that campus they see the big mall . and
after they finished
re-registration they go for refreshing around that city .
Ira : Friska how if we go for
shopping in that big mall ?
Friska : Yes I agree with you Ira , we
can buy some clothes and some skirts there.
Ira : Let’s go Friska ..
Friska : Woww the clothes in this mall
are really beautiful & fashionable
.
Ira : Yes , of course Friska ,
the style of the clothes in this city is different with us in the village
because the people here were modern era .

actually I feel so hungry Ira . Why don’t we get our lunch first ?

. I also feel hungry . I look the restaurant in front of this mall . Why don’t
we try to go there together to taste their food.
Friska : Let’s go Ira .
Friska and Ira
got their lunch in the restaurant and they order their food and in that
restauran
they found many
kinds of food from another countries. They enjoy their food very much . After
they finished their lunch they return to
their boarding house.
Friska :
Woaahh .. I was very happy today . I like this city .
Ira :
I think so Friska. Now I know why many people are like to live in the large
city.
Friska : Many people like to live in the
large city because the facilities were complete and sophisticated.
Ira : Yes Friska , and when we
graduated from our education and live in a big city we have better chances of getting jobs
than in the village.
Friska : We also can watch the movie in
the bioskop , watch the concert , visit the museum and another good place.
Ira : Yes you’re right Friska ,
and also life in the city is much more advanced
than in the village. We can see from the transportation , medical care , and
also the practice service.
Friska : Yes , you’re right Ira. In the large city , social possibilities & networking but there are some reason that make me didn’t like to live in this large city.
Ira : What’s that Friska ?
Friska : This city is too crowded, noisy, environmental pollution , and its different for our village , the weather here is too hot , not like in the village. The weather in our village is very fresh.
Ira : Yes , you’re right Friska , but in the large city we can got the best eduacation than in the village.
Friska : Yes , I agree with you Friska . By the way I feel so hot . Do you know how to turn on this AC ( air condition ) ?
Ira :
No I don’t know to turn on that AC . We can use this book Friska. We don’t know
how to turn it , because we have no AC in the village.
Friska : Ok Ira , I will use it.
Ira :
So how do you feel now ?
Friska : Oh it’s better Ira . I feel little fresh.
Ira :
Actually , I feel sleepy Friska. How if we go to sleep now ?
Friska : Yes Ira , I also feel so sleepy .
Ira :
Wooww this bed is very soft Friska .
Friska : Yes you’re right Ira. Let’s go sleep now because we still have a trip tomorrow .
Ira :
Ok Friska . Let’s go sleep together.
Friska : Ok Ira enjoy your night with this soft bed.
Ira :
Hahahh , Ok Friska , have a nice dream .
